Notice

The Regional Director General for the Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, hereby gives notice of the following changes to the seasons for salmon fishing in the waters of the Miramichi Recreational Fishing Area (Salmon Fishing Area 16) for the Province of New Brunswick.

From 22:00 on August 19 until water conditions in the Miramichi River system improve, the following waters will be restricted to angling with an artificial fly between the hours of 06:00 and 11:00 (morning fishing only):

  • Waters of the Northwest Miramichi River upstream to its junction with the North and South Branches, the Little Southwest Miramichi River including the North Pole Stream and the Lower North Branch Little Southwest Miramichi River, the Big Sevogle River including the North and South Branches of the Big Sevogle River, not including the tributaries of those rivers.
  • Waters of the Southwest Miramichi River including the North and South Branches of the Southwest Miramichi River, Rocky Brook and Clearwater Brook, the Renous River including the North Branch and South Branch of the Renous River, the Dungarvon River, the Bartholomew River, and the Cains River, not including the tributaries of those rivers.
