NBSC Website

The NBSC is reaching out to all salmon anglers and supporters to participate in a letter-writing initiative addressed to the Minister of Fisheries, the Honourable Diane LeBouthillier. Other conservation organizations in New Brunswick concerned with the state of Atlantic salmon are following suit and reaching out to their members and supporters as well.

As everyone is highly aware, in 2023, the recorded salmon counts in the Miramichi River reached a critically low level. To address this alarming situation, the NBSC is supporting the MSA in actively promoting a comprehensive, multi-species approach to the river's management and seeking support for their ongoing conservation efforts. But we need your help!

Effective public engagement is crucial in influencing policymakers. Therefore, we encourage you to express your concerns regarding the Miramichi River's management and the declining Atlantic salmon populations by crafting letters to Minister LeBouthillier and sending them to her by mail via Canada Post at the following address:

The Honourable Diane LeBouthillier

Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard

House of Commons*

Ottawa ON

K1A 0A6

*Postage for mail addressed to the House of Commons is waived.

As well, if you would like to email a letter to the Minister, the Atlantic Salmon Federation has set up an editable template that can be found at the link below. We encourage you to use this link to send an email in addition to sending a written letter via Canada Post. The Minister of Fisheries is obligated to open and read every letter that they receive.
